50 High Protein Vegan Recipes for Athletes

Welcome to the month of September! I’m ready to start ramping up my training schedule now that my crash wounds are on the mend and I’m back from a week away in Italy. With extra training stress comes an increased requirement for dietary protein so let’s take a look at some of the best high protein vegan recipes from around the web.

It’s not just body builders who need to up their protein intake. Endurance athletes such as cyclists and runners also need to eat more protein as protein is what our body primarily uses to repair damaged muscle tissue caused by repeated training. Maintenance, repair, and growth of lean muscle mass all depend on protein. 

I recently wrote about where vegans get their protein from which you can read about here. While doing my research for the article I discovered that athletes can require about twice as much protein in their diet than someone not taking part in regular exercise.
